80/365 Homecoming week at my school

This was my first homecoming experience and it was, what I like to call, intense. Homecoming week is basically where you show off your spirit of your school. But for my school, it was different for all grade levels. Since I am a freshman, me and the rest of the freshmen, had to wear our spirit. But our spirit week was so boring. On Monday, we were supposed to wear one color. What do we look to you? One-colored curtains? Tuesday, we were supposed to wear neon colors. And their slogan for that day was, “Taste the Rainbow”, isn’t that copyrighted? Wednesday, we were supposed to wear tie-dye. I wanted to make my own tie-dye, but the process takes a day, and I came up with the idea on Tuesday. Thursday, we were supposed to wear our grade level t-shirts. And then Friday, we wore our school’s spirit colors.

There were also rallies for each grade level. And each grade level had a theme. For freshmen, our theme was Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Sophomores’ theme was Harry Potter, totally not jealous. Juniors’ theme was Marvel. And Seniors’ theme was Avatar the Last Airbender. Like I said, there were many rallies for the grade levels. I decided to go and check out the freshmen rally, and it was pretty cool. It was just a bunch of decoration that was Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory themed, with a bunch of freshmen saying that they are freshmen. But then the Seniors came and decided to come and started chanting that the Seniors were better. Way to crash the party. If I had the power, courage, and wisdom to think of another theme for the freshmen, I would definitely choose The Owl House. Actually, next year, I would be a Sophomore, so Sophomores’ theme will be The Owl House.

Lastly was the Homecoming Dance. The Homecoming Dance was pretty awkward, I did meet my friends. But my friends were out there. They went into the middle of the dance floor, and basically started jumping up and down. Meanwhile, I walked around the place trying to see if there were more people I knew and yeah, I found people and had a fun time! Homecoming was an experience, and if there are any freshmen whose school is doing homecoming, you should try it out. It is actually very fun, and the experience of it is incredible.

61/365 Being a high schooler is not easy

I am now in high school and many people feel like when you are a high schooler, you have all of the freedom in the world. And whenever you feel like your overwhelmed by something, adults sometimes don’t understand. First of all, high school is super different and the homework is going to be huge. On the second day of school, I was already assigned homework and on the first week of school, we already had a date for our next quiz, and we can’t just skip that, other wise your parents are gonna ground you for a long time. Another thing is that my parents always tell me that I am stressing a lot of any classwork or homework. I don’t understand why adults say that we are just overreacting about their child stressing about homework. I mean yeah, some adults give tips in order for you to do fun stuff, as well as academic stuff. I want to know if this ever happens to you and whether you ever like it when adults, parents or other people say to not stress about something that could change your future.

51/365 High school is interesting…

My first week of high school is ending really soon and I wanted to write out how I feel about high school so far. High school is actually pretty fun, but I think that’s only because it’s the first week of school. The first few days for this week was pretty chill, but also not so chill, and there’s one word that can sum that up. Homework. Piles and piles of homework. As I am writing this, I have some homework that is due in Friday, and yes don’t worry, I finished most of the homework and…wait a minute, why am I saying, “don’t worry”? I never knew that high school will actually be alright with giving us piles of homework. I don’t get why so many teachers think that we don’t have any other classes. The give us piles of homework and gives us an insane due date for the assignments. Now, you might be saying that’s alright and it’s part of life, but say that you have 50 pages of homework to do and you are expected to finish it and submit it by the next day. But, you have 5 more classes who already are putting so much homework on you, and also are giving you insane due dates. This is just an example, but I feel like teachers should know that us kids have other better stuff to do. They might have other classes, they might have to study for a big test or do even more homework from one of their classes. All I am saying to teachers, is to chill with the homework.

But it’s not all bad, I actually have some good teachers. My health class teacher, is probably one of the most relatable teachers I have ever had. And this teacher is the funniest teacher I have ever had. They understand that we sometimes don’t want to present projects in front of the class. One time, a student asked if we would have to present projects in front of the class. These were the teachers’ exact words, “NO, are you crazy?!” This person is the best teacher that I have had for high school so far. High school also has some fun events happening in the year, so there is still more to come!

44/365 My first day of school

Yesterday was my first day of high school, and it was pretty crazy and awkward. For starters, I didn’t know anyone in the school at all, I didn’t have any people who I have met or seen in my middle school, come to this high school. Starting day with hardly knowing anyone is…fine, then I was off for my first period class, I didn’t know how big high school can be, until now. There are many halls that twist and turn and it is so hard to find your classes and I couldn’t find my way around the school. After some time, I eventually found my first and second period classes, but my third class was much harder, my third period class was all the way at the end of the school, so to get there you basically have to run really fast, but I got the classes mixed up. When I took a look at my schedule I looked at what I thought was my class, and headed over to the room. However, this room, I couldn’t find at all, there wasn’t the room that was said on my schedule, but then I looked closer at my schedule, and realized that I made a big mistake. I had to go to the room all the way back at the school. Basically, I got the rooms switched up and I was late.

Next, it was time for lunch. I just sat on a bench and ate my sandwich hoping to make friends…I did not make friends. After that it was time for my fourth period class, I go to the room and inside said the teachers’ name. However, it isn’t my teachers’ name, but this is the right classroom on the schedule. Turns out my teachers’ room is all the way at the back of the school, so I speed-walked all the way to the classroom. After that, it was time for my 5th period class which i found without any problems. I talked with some people, and it actually felt nice to talk to people in real life instead of talking on zoom. Then I went to the my sixth period class and the presentation the teacher gave was pretty funny. After that, there was a Welcome/Welcome Back party where we played games and talked with peers. This was a very fun day, and you know what? I think I’m going to like high school.

41/365 High school, here I come!

As I’m writing this, it will be two days till I go off to high school. It sounds really fun, but for me, it’s pretty stressful and I am honestly feeling nervous. This will be my first time going to school after the pandemic, which is a huge deal. And I know that I’m not the only person who is new at this school, and they also are coming back from online school, but the fact that I’m going off to high school, and that I am going off to a new school, with new people is really stressful. You might be thinking that I will have my friends over right? Unfortunately, none of my friends are going to the same school as I am, so I am kinda on my own. But I am also excited because of all of the events they have hosted, like homecoming and rallies. A lot of people also love the arts, so i would have a lot to talk about with my peers. Even though I’m going to a new school, I know that this is a new chapter in my life and that it’s time for a fresh start.
